Brenda
Using a mix of acrylic paint and oil pastel, I aimed to use unconventional colour schemes to create nude figures in a more abstracted form. For this piece, I started with a split between a gold, green and purple background, then added smaller amounts of Windsor violet, blue, and magenta. The figure’s head was painted in purple, the hands green, and the vagina and face side light blue, layered over top with a variety of colours of oil pastel.
The figure and variety of shapes and lines were developed as they were painted on, rather than planned out beforehand, while using references for the pose itself. The colours were chosen based purely off of feeling, so there was not much planning involved with this piece, rather deciding to go with the flow.
